Points of interest in SicilyModica: the Sicilian baroque masterpiece

The historical heart of Ragusa, knows as Ragusa Ibla, offers a breathtaking view made of roofs, streets and small squares. The area consists of 42 churches and some of the most beautiful palaces of our country. This happens thanks to the many cultures that have met in this land: Greeks, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans.
To reach Ragusa you can choose to use the car, even if this is not the recommended vehicle. We advice using the ancient street that connects modern Ragusa to Ragusa Ibla : it will offer you a unique and charming point of view. Just be prepared to walk and chose comfortable shoes : 340 steps, downhill and uphill, are waiting for you. However, if the road it to much for you, the car offers a series of benefits : a wonderful view of the city located on the side of the hill.
Once arrived in the historical center, it is fundamental to visit the Duomo of San Giorgio, that is one of the biggest treasures of the Sicilian baroque. It is preceded by a high staircase and whose facade is reach in baroque decorations, even if the building has been largely influenced by the Gothic architecture.
When considering this region's beauties, it is impossible not to notice one of the most important points of interest in Sicily: Marina di Modica beaches. The locations is accessible both by car and public transportation, and it is a little treasure. Its beautiful shores offer a corner of piece and relax by the sea, and, for the braver ones, the perfect occasion to surf.
